FRAMED FEST 2025
The festival will take place from June 5 to 29 at the iconic Wasserturm in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg.
This year's edition features a particularly ambitious program: the first-ever neon-only exhibition by Yael Bartana, music and performances by international artists such as Avishai Cohen, Vincent Peirani, Émile Parisien, Meg Stuart, and many more - as well as inspiring conversations, including one with Dr. Peter Levine.

FRAMED FEST returns to Berlin's iconic Wasserturm with an ambitious and visionary program, transforming the historic landmark into a stage for boundary-pushing artistic expression. This year's festival highlights the interplay between sound, space, and human connection, emphasizing artistic dialogue and immersive experiences.
At the heart of this year's program is "HOMESICK", the first neon art exhibition by internationally renowned artist Yael Bartana. Known for representing Germany at the 2024 Venice Biennale and winning the prestigious Rome Prize (Villa Massimo, 2023/24), Bartana's work has been celebrated worldwide for its profound political and emotional resonance. Created especially for FRAMED BERLIN, Yael Bartana's latest commission is a powerful sonic and poetic meditation on origin, displacement, and identity – crafted to echo through the haunting architecture of the Wasserturm.
"One has to step away and even leave one's home in order to ask - where do I really come from, why do I consider that place a home at all?" Yael Bartana
Yael Bartana's bold visual works explore alternative pasts and imagined futures, challenging our sense of belonging. "HOMESICK" is her first exhibition focused solely on neon poetry. Commissioned by FRAMED BERLIN, the Israeli artist unveils a new sign in Berlin- illuminating the emotional distance we often feel from our roots.
"When words change color and sound, that's all the magic you need," says FRAMED FEST art curator Dr. Noam Gal. "It's like last year's postcards at the festival - people didn't want to leave. Someone said he felt a little different, you know?"
Alongside this, the festival presents exclusive musical duets where jazz, modern classical, and chamber pop converge. Over 20 international artists – including Yonathan Avishai, Avishai Cohen, Vincent Peirani, Émile Parisien, and classical violinist Guy Braunstein – collaborate in unique pairings. Dance is represented by renowned choreographer Meg Stuart, with a piece created especially for FRAMED BERLIN.
Workshops, talks, and cross-disciplinary events under the name FRAMED CIRCLE deepen public engagement with the festival's themes of trauma and transformation.
"It's like a bonfire in the center of an imaginary village," says FRAMED FEST Artistic Director Yael Nachshon Levin. "The tower becomes a space for healing and shared presence."
