SOLACE: Conversation and Soup

SOLACE: Conversation and Soup

A space to pause, to carry on, to move forward, to begin anew. Taking the English word solace as its starting point, the exhibition invites viewers to reflect on time, consolation, and related feelings. In a staged space created especially for this occasion, Yuki Jungesblut and Hanna Mattes bring together photographs, videos, texts, and drawings that approach the theme from different perspectives: personal, abstract, and always in dialogue with nature. Also on view are works still in development that will continue to change, just as solace itself unfolds over time. It does not erase loss and pain, but changes our relationship to them. Solace rarely arrives as a grand moment; it comes rather as a slowing down, a pause in which time is not only pressing or slipping away. At the same time, it is itself fleeting and must be found, shared, and renewed again and again, through rituals, repetitions, and small gestures. Precisely because everything passes, the present moment (a light, a touch, a conversation) takes on its particular weight. Thus solace stands between remembering and forgetting, between what was and what is to come: less a state than a transition, in which time can expand for a moment.
